I'm wondering which background fabric to use -- the background fabrics in the kit have different lengths. Tried prewashing fabric for first time -- be careful the loose threads create quite a big knot that I had to cut loose before putting in the dryer. Also some fabrics wash up better than others. I only prewashed half of the kid-- don't think I'll do the rest.

If you cut a scant corner (like 3-5 threads) off each corner before you wash you will almost eliminate any selvage ravel. Try it once and you will do it for every piece of fabric you wash and dry from now on.

I’m looking for the general instructions you mentioned for month 1. I have printed all of the pages but don’t find anything called “ general instructions. With the Sue Garman pattern she had a detailed monthly instructions with all of her patterns.
